Mustang Convertible Rental Miami Cost: Deposit, Mileage, Tolls and No Surprises

Picture it. The top folds back with one touch. The MacArthur Causeway opens up ahead, Biscayne Bay on both sides, the skyline glowing behind you. That's the Mustang convertible moment, and it's why people fly to Miami.
Then there's the other part of the trip: the number. Most people shopping for a convertible know what the daily rate looks like. What they really want to know is what happens after that. How big is the deposit? Will a drive to Key West rack up mileage charges? Who pays the tolls? Is there a fuel trap waiting at the return?
We think you deserve to see all of it before you book, so this is the full Mustang convertible rental Miami cost, piece by piece. No counter math. No surprises.
Why the Daily Rate Is Only Part of the Story
Rates move with the season, the length of your rental and how early you book, so the live number on our booking page is always the one to trust. What doesn't move is everything around it, and that's where rental bills usually go sideways.
At a lot of rental counters, the advertised rate is just the opening offer. Then come the add-ons, the toll packages, the fuel options explained at speed, and sometimes a different car than the one you booked. We built Miami Convertibles to work the opposite way. The price you see online is the price you pay, and the car you book is the car you get.
The daily rate is the headline. The deposit, the miles and the tolls are the fine print, and we'd rather you read it here than at a counter.
What Goes Into Your Mustang Convertible Rental Miami Cost
Here's every piece, in the order you'll meet them.
1. The security deposit: $300, released the same day
The security deposit on our Mustang Convertible is $300. It's a hold, not a charge, and we release it the same day you return the car. Your bank decides how quickly it reappears in your account, but it won't trail you home for weeks.
For comparison, the deposit on the Mustang GT Convertible is $1,000, the Jeep Wrangler is $300 and the Corvette C8 is $1,500. If you're watching your card limit on a long trip, the standard Mustang keeps the hold low.
2. Mileage: unlimited on the Mustang
This is the big one for road-trippers. Our standard Mustang Convertible rate comes with unlimited miles. Drive to Key West and back, take a detour to the Everglades, cruise A1A up to Fort Lauderdale twice. There's no per-mile bill waiting at the end.
Just want to cruise Miami, head to lunch or dinner and enjoy the Mustang in style? In select seasons, especially the low season, we offer a limited-mileage Mustang rate. You can drive up to 100 miles per day without paying the full unlimited-mileage rate. Go over, whether by 1 mile or 100, and we simply charge the difference between the limited-mileage rate and the unlimited-mileage rate. Drive up to 100 miles a day and enjoy the savings.
The Mustang GT Convertible works differently: it includes 150 miles per day. Extra miles are charged at $1 to $4 a mile depending on the length of the rental. On a 1-day rental it's $4 for every mile over, even if it's just one. On a 7-day rental it's $1 a mile once you pass the total allowance of 1,050 miles (150 a day for 7 days). If you're planning the full Overseas Highway run, the standard Mustang is the easier math.
One rule applies to every car in our fleet: it stays within Florida. That still leaves you the Keys, the Gulf Coast, Palm Beach and Orlando.
3. Tolls: SunPass built in
Miami's causeways and expressways use cashless tolls, and figuring them out on vacation is nobody's idea of fun. Every car we rent has SunPass built in, so you drive straight through without stopping or signing up for anything.
You pay the actual tolls you use, plus a SunPass service fee of $5 per day, capped at $15. The cap applies to the service fee only; the tolls themselves are whatever you actually drive. Most guests prepay SunPass when they book, so there's nothing to pay after the trip and nothing comes out of the security deposit. Skip the prepay and both are billed automatically after your rental. Either way, no surprise package bolted onto your rate.
4. Fuel: return it the way you found it, or prepay
Our fuel policy is simple. Bring the car back with the same fuel level it had when you picked it up, usually full to full. If you'd rather not hunt for a gas station on the way to your flight, you can prepay for fuel when you book and return the car without refilling.
The one thing to avoid: bringing it back low without having prepaid. In that case a refueling fee of $5 per gallon applies, plus the fuel itself. A quick stop before return day is the easy way around it.
5. Coverage
If you're relying on your credit card's collision damage waiver, we accept it with proof, so bring the policy letter or a screenshot. Renters from the US using their own auto insurance should bring proof of full coverage. If you're not sure what you have, ask us before you book and we'll walk you through it.
Mustang vs Mustang GT: The Cost Side by Side

Both are one-touch power soft-top convertibles, both seat four, and both make Ocean Drive feel like a movie set. The differences show up in the details:
Deposit: Mustang $300 · Mustang GT $1,000
Mileage: Mustang unlimited (or 100 miles a day on the seasonal limited-mileage rate) · Mustang GT 150 miles per day, extra miles $1 to $4 each
Minimum age: Mustang 21+ · Mustang GT 25+
Seats: 4 in both
Top: one-touch power soft top on both
So which should you rent? If you're planning a long road trip, you're between 21 and 24, or you want the lowest hold on your card, the Mustang Convertible is the smart pick. If you're 25 or older, staying mostly around Miami and want the V8 soundtrack on the causeway, the GT earns its place.
Book a Mustang, get a Mustang. Unlimited miles, a $300 deposit and the exact model you reserved.
The Guarantee That Protects Your Budget
Here's a cost nobody puts in the comparison charts: what happens when the car you paid for isn't there. At many big rental brands, a reservation is for a "class" of car. Show up after a long flight and the convertible you booked can quietly become a sedan, with your plans adjusted to match.
We run the largest Mustang convertible fleet in Florida for exactly this reason. When you book a Mustang Convertible with us, a Mustang Convertible is waiting. We guarantee the model you reserve. The one thing we can't promise is color, which depends on what's on the lot the day you arrive, so dream in any color you like and let us surprise you.
That guarantee isn't just a nice feeling. It protects the money you've already spent on the trip around the car: the hotel on Ocean Drive, the sunset dinner reservation, the photos you flew here to take.
Age, Cards and the Fine Print, Answered
How old do I need to be?
You can rent the Mustang Convertible from age 21. The Mustang GT requires drivers 25 and up.
Which cards work?
It depends on where you live. Renters from the US and Canada need a major credit card. Most European guests can use a debit card. If you're unsure which applies to you, contact us before booking and we'll confirm what works for your card.
What about changes and cancellations?
Give us 48 hours. Cancellations within 48 hours of pickup carry a bank fee of roughly 10%, and the same 48-hour window applies to date and car changes. No-shows are charged the full rental, but we hold your car for two hours, so if your flight is running late, call us at (305) 799-7892.
Five Ways to Keep Your Total Low
Match the rate to your plans. Road trip to Key West? Unlimited miles keeps it a fixed cost. Staying around Miami? Ask about the seasonal 100-mile-a-day Mustang rate.
Plan your fuel. Return at the level you picked it up, or prepay when you book. Either way, you avoid the refueling fee.
Prepay SunPass. Most guests do. The $15 cap on the service fee keeps it predictable, and nothing comes out of your deposit later.
Lock your dates early. Changes inside 48 hours cost money, so confirm your flight times before you book.
Pick up where you land. With self-service pickup at MIA, FLL, Miami Beach, Downtown / Port of Miami and Brickell, there's no need to pay for a taxi just to reach your car.
Where to Pick Up Your Mustang
Start your trip wherever it actually starts. MIA and FLL airport pickups are fully self-service, with step-by-step instructions sent ahead of time. Our Miami Beach HQ is minutes from Ocean Drive. Cruise guests can grab the keys at our Downtown / Port of Miami location, and Brickell has self-service, contactless garage pickup. Staying in South Beach? We'll deliver with 48 hours' notice.
Want to see the car before you commit? Our Mustang convertible page and full fleet page show every model side by side, and our FAQ page covers the policies in detail.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is the deposit to rent a Mustang convertible in Miami?
At Miami Convertibles, the security deposit on a Mustang Convertible is $300. The Mustang GT is $1,000, the Jeep Wrangler $300 and the Corvette C8 $1,500. The deposit is a hold, not a charge, and it's released the same day you return the car, so it doesn't follow you home after your trip.
Does a Mustang convertible rental in Miami include unlimited mileage?
Our standard Mustang Convertible rate includes unlimited miles, so a run down to Key West doesn't come with a mileage bill. In select seasons we also offer a limited-mileage Mustang rate of up to 100 miles per day; go over and we simply charge the difference between the two rates. The Mustang GT has a 150-mile-per-day allowance, with extra miles at $1 to $4 each depending on rental length. Our cars stay within Florida.
How do tolls work in a Miami rental convertible?
Every car in our fleet comes with SunPass, so you can drive Miami's toll roads without stopping at a booth or signing up for anything. You pay the actual tolls you use, plus a SunPass service fee of $5 per day, capped at $15. Most guests prepay SunPass when they book, so there's nothing to pay after the trip and nothing deducted from the security deposit.
Can I use a debit card to rent a convertible in Miami?
It depends on where you live. Renters from the US and Canada need a major credit card. Most European guests can use a debit card. If you're unsure which applies to you, contact us before booking at (305) 799-7892 or info@miamiconvertibles.com and we'll confirm what works for your card.
What happens if I cancel or change my Miami convertible rental?
Cancel more than 48 hours before pickup and you get a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours carry a bank fee of roughly 10%, and the same 48-hour rule applies to date and car changes. If you don't show up, the full rental is charged, but we hold your car for two hours, so call us if you're running late.
