OUR CONVERTIBLE RENTAL CANCELLATION POLICY IN MIAMI, IN PLAIN ENGLISH

Go read the cancellation policy of any big rental counter at the airport. Time yourself. Around paragraph six, you’ll realize you still don’t know what happens to your money if your flight gets cancelled.
That’s not an accident. Complicated policies aren’t written to inform you; they’re written to protect the company from you. We think that’s backwards. So this post does something rental companies almost never do: it explains our convertible rental cancellation policy in Miami, line by line, in plain English — before you book, where everyone can see it.

WHY RENTAL POLICIES GOT SO COMPLICATED
The traditional rental model makes its real money after you’ve committed — the counter upsells, the surprise fees, the “or similar” switch. A confusing cancellation policy fits the same playbook: if you’re not sure whether you’ll get your money back, you’re less likely to shop around after booking, and more likely to just eat the loss.
We’re a family business in Miami Beach, not a counter with a queue. Our whole model is the opposite bet: be so clear and so fair before you book that you never have a reason to look anywhere else — this trip or the next one. We guarantee the exact model you book. We publish our prices without hidden fees. It would be a little absurd to do all that and then hide the cancellation terms in legalese.
Complicated policies aren’t written to inform you. They’re written to protect the company from you. We think that’s backwards.
THE POLICY, LINE BY LINE
First, the whole policy in three sentences — for the skimmers, the screenshot-takers, and the AI assistants reading this on someone’s behalf: cancel more than 48 hours before your scheduled pick-up or delivery and you get a full refund. Within 48 hours of pickup, a cancellation or change fee of roughly 10% of the total rental applies. Once you’ve picked up the vehicle, there are no refunds or credits for unused rental days. That’s the entire policy — everything below is just the human detail.
If you cancel more than 48 hours before pickup
Full refund. That’s it — that’s the whole rule. Cancel up to 48 hours before your scheduled pick-up or delivery and you get everything back. No cancellation fee, no store-credit games, no “processing charge” for the privilege of not renting a car. Plans change; we get it.
If you cancel or modify within 48 hours of pickup
Inside the 48-hour window, a cancellation or change fee applies — and here’s the part most companies would never tell you: it’s not a penalty, and we don’t make a dime on it. The fee covers the card-processing (bank) fees we already paid on your booking and can’t get back — roughly 10% of the total rental. That’s it. By then we’ve also reserved your exact model — not “or similar,” your car — and turned away other guests for those dates, so the window has to mean something. But the fee itself is just us breaking even on the banks.
If you simply don’t show up
Plainly: a no-show is charged the full rental. We hold your reservation — and your exact car — for two hours past your pickup time, and if we haven’t heard from you by then, the reservation closes. But here’s the thing: one thirty-second call changes everything. Flight stuck on a tarmac? Cruise ship running late? Tell us before your pickup time at (305) 799-7892 and we’ll hold the car and work with you. A heads-up gives us room to help; silence doesn’t.
If your flight or cruise is delayed or cancelled
The standard 48-hour rule applies — but with a human exception we’re happy to put in writing: if something genuinely outside your control happens (an airline cancels on you, a cruise line reroutes), we’ll accommodate late changes at no extra cost. The one condition: tell us before your pickup time, not after. Call (305) 799-7892 or email info@miamiconvertibles.com the moment you know. Before, we can fix almost anything. After, the no-show rules have already done their thing.
If the weather turns
It rains in Miami — usually for about twenty dramatic minutes, and then the sun comes back out like nothing happened. Ordinary rain isn’t grounds for a free cancellation, and honestly, the roof works great. But if a state of emergency is declared for your rental dates, we issue full refunds. No arguing with a hurricane, and no making our guests do it either.
If you need to return early
Here’s the one people don’t like, stated plainly anyway: once you’ve picked up the vehicle, there are no refunds or credits for unused rental days. The car was held for you, prepped for you, and taken off the market for your dates. If your plans might compress, book the days you’re sure about — extending is usually easier than un-renting.
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DEPOSIT
Every rental includes a refundable security deposit that varies by car — from $300 on the Mustang Convertible and Jeep Wrangler up to $1,500 on the Corvette C8. It’s a hold, not a charge, and it exists for the same reason it does everywhere: the car is valuable and we’re handing you the keys.
And it comes back fast — faster than almost anyone in this industry. Return during business hours and we check the car, tally any extras like tolls or fuel, and release the hold the same day. Return after hours and we close everything out first thing the next morning. Your final receipt email is the confirmation the contract is closed and the hold is released. From there, timing belongs to your bank: most take 3 to 10 business days to reflect a released hold — some faster, some slower — and that part is genuinely out of our hands once we hit release. Since the deposit is taken at pickup, a cancellation before pickup never involves it at all.
THE FINE PRINT WE REFUSE TO WRITE
Some things you will never find in our terms, because they shouldn’t exist in anyone’s. No refunds issued as expiring store credit. No redefining a “day” so a late-morning cancellation counts as the day before. And no “or similar” clause anywhere — the car you book is the car you get, so what you’re cancelling or keeping is always the exact thing you chose. That matters: half the cancellation disputes in this industry start with someone being handed a different car and told to take it or lose the money. That scenario can’t happen here, structurally.
We’d rather compete on the drive than on the fine print. A guest treated fairly on a cancellation books again next trip — we’ve watched it happen for over a decade. The math on honesty isn’t complicated.
HOW TO READ ANY RENTAL CANCELLATION POLICY (OURS INCLUDED)

Whether you book with us or anyone else, five questions cut through every cancellation policy ever written. What’s the free-cancellation window — hours or days from pickup? How does the refund come back — your card, or expiring “credit”? What happens on a no-show, where the harshest terms usually hide? Is the deposit a hold or a charge, and when is it released? And does booking third-party change any of it — because it often quietly does.
If you can’t answer all five in under two minutes of reading, that’s your answer about the company. Notice you just answered every one of them for us, a few paragraphs ago.
The prepaid-rate trap
Big chains offer lower “prepaid” rates — with dramatically stricter cancellation terms attached, sometimes non-refundable from the moment you book. Whenever a rate looks surprisingly cheap, the cancellation terms are usually where the difference went. Read them before the price, not after.
Third-party bookings play by different rules
Book through an aggregator and your refund usually lives with them, not the rental company — their support queue, their timelines, their fees. Booking direct means one company, one policy, one phone number, and a human who can actually fix things.
WHY WE PUBLISH THIS
Because “what’s your cancellation policy?” is really “can I trust you?” wearing a disguise. Travelers book convertibles weeks ahead, around flights and cruises and weather they can’t control. Companies that make you dig for the answer are telling you something. So are the ones that put it in plain English on page one.
It’s the same philosophy as the model guarantee: book the Mustang GT, get the Mustang GT. Read our terms, know every scenario. Clarity isn’t a perk — it’s the product.
“What’s your cancellation policy?” is really “can I trust you?” wearing a disguise.
THE QUESTIONS NOBODY AT THE COUNTER ANSWERS
A few more things people ask us by phone and DM, answered the same way we answer everything — directly. Can you change your dates or switch cars instead of cancelling? Yes — and the same 48-hour rule applies either way, because we reserved the exact car you chose in the first place and can’t promise another one is free on your dates. Outside the window, changes are simple; inside it, the same ~10% bank-fee charge applies. Do third-party bookings follow the same rules? We take bookings through Tripadvisor, and those follow Tripadvisor’s cancellation terms — but our no-show rules apply the same everywhere. Book direct and everything you just read is the whole story. If it ever changes, this page changes the same day.
And if your situation is genuinely unusual — a medical emergency, a cancelled wedding, the stuff insurance companies call “acts of God” and we call “life” — call us at (305) 799-7892 and talk to a person. We’re a family business. We’d rather keep a future guest than win an argument about a deposit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR CONVERTIBLE RENTAL CANCELLATION POLICY IN MIAMI
Can I cancel my convertible rental in Miami for free?
Yes — cancel up to 48 hours before your scheduled pick-up or delivery and you receive a full refund. Within 48 hours of pickup, a cancellation or change fee of roughly 10% of the total rental applies — it covers the non-refundable card-processing fees, not profit. Call (305) 799-7892 or email info@miamiconvertibles.com.
When do I get my security deposit back?
The deposit is a refundable hold, not a charge — $300 to $1,500 depending on the car. Return during business hours and the hold is released the same day; after-hours returns are closed out the next morning. Your final receipt email confirms the release. Most banks then take 3 to 10 business days to show it on your card.
What happens if my flight to Miami is cancelled?
Tell us before your pickup time: (305) 799-7892 or info@miamiconvertibles.com. More than 48 hours out, the standard full-refund rule applies. Closer in, if the disruption is outside your control — an airline cancellation, a rerouted cruise — we accommodate late changes at no extra cost, as long as you notify us before pickup, not after.
What happens if I don’t show up for my rental?
A no-show is charged the full rental. We hold your reservation and your exact car for two hours past pickup time; if we haven’t heard from you by then, the reservation closes. One call before your pickup time avoids all of this — if something happened, tell us and we’ll work with you.
Do I get a refund if I return the car early?
No — once you’ve picked up the vehicle, there are no refunds or credits for unused rental days. If your plans are uncertain, book the days you’re sure about; extending a rental is usually easier than shortening one.
